MAMMOGRAPHY

Cook County Mobile Mammography Services (CCMMS) was created in 1994 to make mammography screening more accessible to women who are at higher risk of breast cancer.

Certified and approved by the American College of Radiology and the Food and Drug Administration, CCMMS features two motor coaches that are wheelchair accessible and fully equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.

An experienced, multi-lingual clinical staff provides mammography screening and one-on-one education about breast health and self-exams, as well as referrals for gynecological exams and total health care.

WELLNESS ON WHEELS

Cook County Department of Public Health’s Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van is a thoroughly moderm 35 foot mobile health unit providing general health screenings for suburban Cook County adults and children age 10 and older who qualify.

Services offered through the WOW van include health counseling, tests for anemia and diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol screening, tuberculosis (TB) testing, immunizations, urinalysis, breast self exam instruction, pelvic pap smears for women, and prostate and testicular exams for men.

If a health problem is found the client will be referred to available services for treatment. Appointments are necessary and clients should phone their local Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) district office for WOW locations and appointment availability.
